Space marines vs Chaos marines?

Who's better? explain

Although you can't actually say one is better then the other because they are both not only very similar but it's it also depends on the general(player) behind them, in my personal opinion the Space Marines are better simply because of the predator annihilator and and Landraider tanks accompanied by a few marine squads, an assault marines squad terminators and Grey Knights led by a librarian they are pretty much unstoppable.

I would have to say Chaos sadly. I can't stand using them; but they have some very, very powerful units, and I think a very skilled Chaos player would out-do any Space Marine player.

I'd have to disagree here Jerms. Both I beleive in a match between Chaos and space marines it would all come down to the tactics used by both players. I dnt think one is really better then the other.

In sheer epicness, i would have to choose the Space marines, they are just too cool for there own good =]

I dunno, the Chaos have some bloody tough units; and their commanding units are ridiculously strong. I find that the speed in which one can create defilers is a key point to Chaos' strength; being able to pump out such a tough and terrifying unit in such short time, one which can fire from beyond turret range.
However; I think the Space Marines look cooler, and their dialogue is alot less annoying.

You raise a valid and good point although easy way to counter the defiler 2 predator annihilators and a landraider not only are both those units also very tough they can sit with the turrets protecting them from most other units and las cannon the absolute shit out of any defiler.

But the Defiler is so quick to build, takes very little time; and is resource friendly, it would be very easy to have 2 or even 3 defilers mashing on a land-raider with another Defiler on the way. That, plus the horror squads, which; IMO can divide an attacking army very easily; in large numbers they are an excellent distraction, and if used properly will easily beat unattended troops.

Another great point but with well placed defensive buildings and marines with well selected weapon add ons backed up with a couple Dreadnaughts A good player can usually hold until they are able to get these units out.

That's true, but the Chaos also has Marines with weapon mods, as well as turrets, and dreadnoughts are annoyingly slow to make, and chew up resource like a muthabitch. That; plus; they can be taken out with one marine squad packed with bolters.

well i guess Chaos would have to set up pretty quick, and rush the marines before they could formulate a defence

I think it would all come down to which ever team is able to set up a good defense and launch an effective offense to see who would become the victors.

i agree, spaceies would be more than capable of defending them selves of they were organised

I'm thinking in the next LAN session we have we are going to have to test out both sides to see which one is "best". I'm thinking we do something like one person uses chaos while the pother uses Space marines then swap do this between a few different players.

Good idea, well i also wanna see if my Necron Base Building speed is getting better, i also have a new strat to try, im keeping it under wrapps for now
