Favorite Genre and why?

Whats Your Fav Genre (type of music) e.g Pop, Rock, Techno, classical

Mine is Techno (Hard Style mainly)

I like it because it has a good beat (some lyrics) and just love it


used not to like it but then brother and snipe got me into it

Third Wave Ska is my personal fave E.G Streetlight manifesto,less than jake, Big d and the kids table.

i just really like the upbeat sound

For me it's all about the Hardcore/metal-core (Parkway Drive, Confession, Asking Alexandria) nothing beats a heavy breakdown in my opinion all though i do listen to a wide variety of music including some Ska(mainly Streetlight), and some older stuff(the Angels, Led Zeppelin ect)

Since it's more a question of favouritism, than just straight up who you listen to.
I do listen to alot of 90s rock/alternative and some hip hop.

Personally, I listen to AM talk back radio at work (Yeah, yeah, I'm a conservative) and prefer that more than music. The whole new music scene it utter garbage (top40 I mean) in my opinion. The fact that someone bought Paris Hilton's CD is a joke (Unless her tape was attached, it's a waste of materials) and frankly, wont catch me listening to anything remotely new ... lol

It entails Opera, Concerts, Pianists etc...
Stuff that exsisted pre-20th century mostly. It's very calming and I like music that doesn't encite violence as I'm generally getting enough violence for my liking in STALKER. lol

Classical (I'm talking all periods) has gone to heights in music people are too scared to even touch in modern music.

Classical can represent every mood that exists, where as other genres, good example Grunge, is just always down and well, grungy. Not that I don't like a bit of that. Listening to Metallica and every other band exactly like them in the hthrash metal genre doesn't do much for me, which is why I have a very broad range of taste.

Classical goes beyond "Beat". In fact, Electronica and Techno is possibly the most basic form of music that exists.

As for Electronic music, that was invented over 30 years ago, and it was even better then. Listen to Lansky's "Notjustmoreidlechatter" on Grooveshark or something, and tell me that is it's not weird and different.

Serial-ism, Impressionism, Minimalist, all these movements of Classical music are fine examples of things that won't be reused in another style until years in the future when everyone's bored (And it was already done before the 21st century). Scratch that, if people were capable of getting bored from 1 2 3 4 | 1 2 3 4 and Basic chord progessions like every other song, Lady Gaga, and that terrible "Every Breathe you Take" Rip-off not to mention the "You Spin me Right 'Round" Rip off, would never have happened.
(Look up "Four Chords Song" on Grooveshark, it combines about 30 songs together and you see how they all use the same chords)

Don't mean to go on. But I love to and you did ask "why?"

What better reasoning is there?

My favourite genre of music is Opera. I love Opera because it requires near-perfect vocal technique (aka TALENT) and it can be about anything. It always has a meaning behind the lyrics and it uses all styles and methods of voice including the Vocal Fry Register, Soprano, Counter Tenor, Staccato and, well, everything else!

Other music genres I enjoy include (in no specific order):
○ Musical Theatre
○ Soul
○ Classical
○ Various forms of Rock
○ Some Jazz
○ Some of the new stuff (one's that are catchy and have a really good beat)
○ Very small selection of techno
○ Shaman

I love classical; I am a very big fan of Vivaldi, particularly his Cello concertos.
I have a large selection of Jazz; fairly modern Jazz mostly, Paul Hardcastle and such.

Actually. From that 5000. About half would be from my dads immense CD collection. About a quarter would be from torrents. And the rest are either from friends music collections; or my own CD's.
