I just did a quick search on the Tea Party guys (Heard of before, just didn't know who). The Tea Party wants to cut taxes for small businesses, give them small business owner the safety of being able to stay in business. Multi-transnations Corportaions were once small businesses also...

Video Games are violent, they allow the gamer to destroy and kill hundreds; even thousands of people. They give the GAMER that control. If the Gamer cannot tell the difference between virtual and actual reality- something 'bad' could happen. And it has. Several times. Not adults. Now we have a system inplace already to help prevent kids watching movies that are deemed unsuitable for their age groups.
However for games it is limited to people under 15 being restricted.
According to many people- a 15 year old should be able to play a game where you can shoot hundreds of people, kill people online and even go on a killing spree through a shopping center (I refer to CoD MW2 here). They are allowed to play a game which allows them to beat homeless people with baseball bats, beat police officers with baseball bats, beat hookers with baseball bats and get blowjobs on the corner street in your car. (I refer to "Wollongong; The game" I mean...Grand Theft Auto 4)
So why? WHY do not have restrictions on this?
Because people still think video games are for kids...
We need an R18+ rating on video games.

That way PARENTS can take the blame for letting Little Jimmy play "Hate murder Rape 4: The return of the 12 Gauge Marmoset" after Jimmy is found in school smashing coffee mugs and chairs over the heads of year 7 girls.
It's just stupid that they will completely censor one game (Left for Dead 2), nearly ban one game (fallout 3) and then just forget that even after that kids can still walk in an buy the game that required censoring. If a parent feels that there 16 year old is mature enough, then I see no reason why said parent cannot purchase an R game for him- hence sales will stay reasonable.
The relationship between violent video games and violent behavior is apparent. Sure I play STALKER, CSS and the like but am I a criminal? No.
Have I beaten my partner? No
Do I go on murderous rampages killing thousands using my car? No.
The people who shoot up schools, video games isnt the cause, its an accelerant. The relationship I acknowledge and thats why we have "Rating systems" but parents dont fucking care. Kids who drink booze at 17, their parents say "its not my child, its the other kids that is the problem" are so neive i could crap on their chest and smooth-talk my way out of court without breaking a sweat and why? A) My job is all about that and; B) People are morons.

Shouldn't a government document be taught by a government institution? Facist, Communists and Conservatives would say so. Being a by-product of all 3 lol, I would say its their (Feds) responsibility to do so. Same with driving, environmental sustainability and there needs to be open forums with sex education because I have seen the material supplied (i know many primary and high school teachers) and its pathetic to say the least.

OH GOD. I want. Independents ROCK. If more people made games like Duke3D and DOOM, the politicians would be too busy playing these awesome games to worry about who is killing who.
There's going to be a big trend back to Indie games. There will still be NBA Live from EA Sports etc, but you'll see less smaller developers making as many games and this is only bad news for consumers, as the bigger labels will have less competition and will suffer because of it.
Indie games wont get better if the main industry die, as the developers and programmers wont all migrate together. 5-10 years, expect no more franchises like HALO, COD to be around. I hope im wrong but my gut is telling me that this is the first step against it all.
