The 80's

Seriously. Music fro the 80's is very often awesome.
Not everything of course...but alot of it, is epic. (Duran Duran FTW)
No need to list bands obviously. But I want to talk about what the bands and trends of the 80's influenced.
Which is quite simply.
MTV
Back in the 80's and most of the 90's, it meant Music TV.
We now know it as soft porn on a Sunday Morning, to the backing track of some remix or another crappy lady Gaga Song.
I just have a question here-
Where did it all go wrong!?
I haven't seen a decent song on there for sooo long.
It used to be cool.
Like Rage- that used to be cool.
Used to show loads of old Rap songs, and some decent new ones.
Now, I swear they just choose songs based on the popularity of the artist and the amount of cleavage it has.

Anyone else agree?
Cause this is supposed to be the music of my generation.
And I'm not impressed.

That would be because they do.... they play the 'hit music' as they call it, the stuff that the vast majority of people in our generation are into.

BUT! I know on channel V back when I had Austar they did have variation, they had nights that were all rock, it was still pretty much nothing but Kings of Leon and Muse and Fall out Boy(the popular bands) but I do recall on occasion they had some not so big bands whose music was sometime terrible and didn't deserve the title of 'rock' but also sometimes was pretty good/bearable. Also, If I remember correctly every now and then on one of the music channels their was specials which played older music, they and like a 90's program and 70's program etc, and on Rage sometimes when they have one of their Guest Programers, you get some really cool music cos they play what influenced their band etc, although alot of the time its really bad cos they get the 'in' bands to choose and ooo 70% of them are like electro/pop/hiphop so you get some pretty strange stuff some good but some really odd stuff.

I have to say I'm a 90s man, No Doubt, Nirvana defined a generation. But your opinion is quite valid and I respect it Though I dont agree with it.

im kinda spread out across the years, pretty much anything i think sounds cool , ill get into it , but i agree with van, 90's rule!
